Our Plenary Speaker

Dr. Kalan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at McGill University. His research focuses on writing across languages and cultures. He examines transnational writing and the cultural, political, and social dimensions of plurilingual writing. He is the author of Who’s Afraid of Multilingual Education? (2016) and Sociocultural and Power-Relational Dimensions of Multilingual Writing (2021).

The 2nd Montreal Institute for Second Language Acquisition (MonISLA) Symposium will take place at University of Montreal, Montreal, Canada. This is a student-led symposium and primarily features research by graduate students. However, it welcomes established researchers as well.
